- One opportunity players on Atomix had was the ability to acquire resources, upgrade their mining gear, and gain access to new mines on the server.
- Levels were climbed by mining blocks and earning progress until reaching ever increasing progress requirements.
- In doing so, players gained access to new powerups and upgrades that helped them climb levels faster and become a true competitor on the server.
Why This Matters
Leveling looks simple to a player: mine, fill a bar, level up. Behind it is a web of variables that all move at once. The work was making that web feel smooth and rewarding, and proving it with data instead of guessing.
- 1Map the web of variables
Blocks broken, Fortune and mine value multiply together, and the Lucky Block boost and permanent multiplier are added to each other first and then multiply that product. Each one grows on its own schedule. We broke the economy into those factors so every one could be measured and tuned.
- 2Test to get real data
We tested to measure how fast a player really earns progress at each stage: blocks broken per minute from the enchant setups, the value of each mine, and the time a level takes. That turned opinions into numbers.
- 3Experiment through user releases
Each release put the curve in front of real players. We compared what players did with what the model predicted, then adjusted the curve by hand, release after release, to smooth out the rough spots.

The result is a level-up curve that keeps a steady pace, while every Fortune or explosive enchant upgrade makes mining feel faster and more rewarding.

Engineering Breakdown: How a Level-Up Is Calculated
Two things decide how long a level takes: what the level costs, and how fast the player earns progress. Both are modeled in the progression spreadsheet. Pick any level to see every factor behind it.
The cost curve is built from player estimates
- Estimate what a typical player has at each level: their Fortune and their explosive enchant stack (blocks broken per minute), in the mine they are working.
- Multiply those into an estimated progress per minute.
- Pick how long that level should take, then fit the cost curve so cost ÷ progress per minute lands on that time.
Time smoothing The goal is steady progression with satisfying upgrades. Cost climbs in step with the player's estimated power, so a level takes a steady number of minutes. Each Fortune or explosive enchant upgrade then makes the same level go by a little faster, which is the rewarding moment, and the curve rises again gently so the pace never spikes or stalls.
So the cost of a level is not a guess. It is the estimated player's earning power at that level, turned into a price.
1. What decides how long a level takes

Multiplier levels a player unlocks for good with a purchase. It never expires. It is added to the Lucky Block boost, and that sum multiplies the rest. The sheet lists the values, from 1.02x to 1.15x.

Blocks × Fortune × mine value × (boost + permanent). Divide the level's cost by this and you get the minutes a level takes, the number the cost curves were tuned against.
How explosive enchants stack blocks broken
The blocks-per-minute estimate is a count of blocks actually broken each minute, built from the enchant configuration. A player breaks about 1,000 blocks a minute by swinging. An enchant fires every so often (its proc rate, set by its activation chance), and each time it fires it breaks a set number of extra blocks (its blocks per proc, which grows with the enchant's level). If an enchant procs every 20 to 45 seconds and breaks 50 extra blocks, the blocks per minute is worked out from that:

The yields add together, so each new enchant raises the blocks broken for everything after it. That is why the estimate climbs as players unlock and level their enchants.
The per-enchant numbers (activation rates, blocks per proc, costs) are part of the game's tuning and are not published here. The builder below uses the resulting blocks-per-minute estimate for each level.

Engineer notes: what comes from the sheet and what is assumed
- Multiplier stack: blocks broken (explosive enchants), Fortune, mine value multiply together; the Lucky Block boost and the permanent multiplier are added to each other and that sum multiplies the result. The permanent multiplier levels use the sheet\'s paid-perk values; the Lucky Block boost values are demo assumptions.
- From the progression sheet: cost per level (1 to 399), Fortune Factor (22.18 × Fortune level), mine value by level, blocks per minute, and the estimated time to level for a basic player. Play time is the sum of time-to-level for every level so far.
- From the level config: Atoms per level-up: 75,000 for levels 1 to 199 and 82,500 for 200 to 399.
